Recently, we as a class were assigned to make a stop motion animation video, we were put into groups of three and we went from there. at the very begging of the project we kinda slacked of not knowing what to do, so we were talking about celebrities which then gave us the idea to use celebrities in our video. The characters we used were Will Smith, Eminem, Gerard Buttler, and Rihanna they were based on certain people, Will Smith and Gerard Buttler was My super epic blog for cyberarts,
Rihanna was based on Martin's Blog, and Eminem was based on Happy Madison (Me). As a group we made the decision to use a gym as our scene and we hand drew the scene and characters and started to shoot. When we made the video using iMovie HD and we used sound, the sound was called Three Pointer, and we just doubled it.

Moma art
Artist: Thomas Nozkowski
Title: Untitled 8-19
Department: Painting and sculpture
classification: Painting
Medium: Oil on linen on panel
Dimensions: 22 x 28" (55.9 x 71.1cm)
Date: 2001
This painting attracts me because it looks outstanding in my opinion, and it's in my ally of style, random, crazy, and amazing, i like this piece because the colour, the red on the blue background makes this odd shape pop. i find this piece interesting because what ever this object is, it looks like its exploding, which is amazing, in my opinion, others might look at this and find boring, meaning less, and stupid.
Artist: Polly Apfelbaum
Title: Blossom
Department: Panting and sculpture
Classification: Installation
Medium: Synthetic Velvet Fabric Dye
Dimensions: Approximately 18' (548.6cm) in diameter
Date: 2000
This piece attracts me because of its colours, and its just a giant colour wheel, it also looks like a rug, but anyways its attracting me through its colour. I find this interesting because all the different colours reminds of different people, and different races, and when i look at this i think of people coming together and being kind and cooperating.
Artist: Mark Grotjahn
Title: Untitled (Blue painting light to Dark VII)
Department: Painting and sculptures
Classification: Painting
Medium: Oil on Linen
Dimensions: 60 x 50" (152.4 x 127cm)
Date: 2006
This picture attracts me because i wonder what materials this artist used to get these affects, for example the scratch marks, did he use chalk on black construction paper? or are they actual scratch marks?
This picture interests me because if you look at the middle top half of the page,in between the scratches, it kinda looks like a head, and if you look from there straight down it looks like a faded person(body).

Squash and stretch
1. SQUASH AND STRTECH
squash and stretch is used with "moving pictures" it makes moving objects look highly realistic, for example a bouncing ball, if you have a regular ball moving in a circular motion it doesnt look natural, but when you use the principle squash and stretch it looks like and actual ball being bounced off walls. All it does is squishes the animated figure and stretchs it.
2. ANTICIPATION
Anticipation is when your expecting something to happen or your preparing for an action to come about.
1.The preperation for the action
2.the action
3.the termination of the action.
3. STAGING
Staging is when you can tell a characters emotion, reations or what they are doing, and it should all relate to its story, camera shots can help with that as well, for example if you were to do a close up shot it could relate to an emotion such as sad or lonely or something like that. and you dont want to use too many actions in one shot, you might confuse your audience.
4. STRAIGHT AHEAD AND POSE TO POSE ANIMATION
straight ahead animation starts with the first drawing all the way through to your last. using this method you can lose size, volume and proportions but they are also controlled better this way, and fast wild actions can occur using this principle.

Page Layout / Optical Devices
Page layout :
In my opinion the site, the layout page of the site, seems too clutterd for me, if the just spread they're stuff out and added alot more pages it wouldnt be so bad.
Optical devices: LINK:http://courses.ncssm.edu/gallery/collections/toys/html/exhibit07.htm
This image is called the phenakistoscope.
HOW IT WORKS:
The phenakistoscope uses the persistence of motion principle to create an illusion of motion. Although this principle had been recognized by the Greek mathematician Euclid and later in experiments by Newton, it was not until 1829 that this principle became firmly established by Joseph Plateau.
WHAT I FIND INTERESTING:
I find it interesting that the phenakistoscope is just a small circle piece of paper that has little drawings on it that create a little short clip, i just think of it as film, and the very first film to be created was in 1878, that film was known as "The horse in motion" when you watch it it looks just like a stop motion animation video, so inspirational.
THE HISTORY OF ITS ANIMATION:
In 1832, Belgian physicist Joseph Plateau and his sons introduced the phenakistoscope ("spindle viewer"). It was also invented independently in the same year by Simon von Stampfer of Vienna, Austria, who called his invention a stroboscope. Plateau's inspiration had come primarily from the work of Michael Faraday and Peter Mark Roget (the compiler of Roget's Thesaurus). Faraday had invented a device he called "Michael Faraday's Wheel," that consisted of two discs that spun in opposite directions from each other. From this, Plateau took another step, adapting Faraday's wheel into a toy he later named the phenakistoscope.
This is all important because from what i understood they all got they're ideas from one another and they were all inspired by one another which meant more inventions to come, that is why i find it important.

HOW TO
HOW TO: Make a stop motion animation using a drawing
This video is a stop motion animation of a knight using a cut out drawing.
This stop motion animation took approximately 90 minutes to make, and 115 pictures were taken just to make a 28 sec. video.
At the beginning it looks like its on paper as if he drew it there but the maker drew it, cut it out, and put it on the paper. During the video, the creator begins to move the knight across the page, he simply just takes a piece of the knight, moves it a bit and takes a picture and continues to do the same procedure again.
when the creator took the pictures he used a tripod for a steady/balanced picture, the man didn't move the camera because he needed to have a stable image, and all he wanted to move was the cut out drawing. now don't get confused because the man has two camera in this video, one to take this video for his tutorial and the other for his stop motion animation.
This video is very useful because he explains how this procedure works, by taking pictures, moving objects, and talking to help the viewers understand what he is doing, which is making a stop motion animation video.

Daumier
Chess piece
Hello, my fellow bloggers, I'm going to explain the process of drawing my chess piece.
This project was based on still life, and we drew chess pieces and tried to make them look as realistic as we could by drawing the chess piece, adding in certain lines, and shading in the correct areas. I would say that I added proportion by making my chess piece bigger in the drawing then the actual chess piece that I was looking at to draw this, and adding different sized lines for the background. I added different values not only on my focal point (chess piece) but also in the background, I needed a way to make none of the same shades connect, so I used six different shades (lights and darks) on the background. For pattern, rhythm, and movement I really tried to focus on the background because I based it on a spider web. The different directions and shading of the lines gives it that pattern it needs. It also has rhythm and movement because the different directions of the lines in the background make it interesting, they produce rhythm because I tried to make them look all connected like a real spider web, and i repeated the lines, the direction of the lines and the different shading of the lines. For movement I made sure that it wasn't boring and that people weren't going to be looking at one thing, I did that by moving the chess piece off to the left side and making some of the background lines look like they were coming out of the chess piece, and they different shades helps leads your eyes to other places on the picture.
I have many ranges of value throughout this drawing, i went from really light, (which is pretty much white) to light, to grey to dark to really dark (Which is pretty much black). i put my chess piece off to the left and slightly in the top part of the paper, i made sure my chess piece was not in the middle, because thats just boring and life less, and no one is going to want to look at my art if its life less boring and just plain out original. my focal point is the chess piece, and the background really helps my chess piece stand out because of the line direction and the shading, for example look how the lines are coming out of the focal point and the other lines are attached to those specific lines going in a diagonal direction. Well thats what i did with my time, and my chess piece (which is a bishop), so thanks for reading and checking out my blog.

logo assignment
Logo Assignment
I have chosen to represent my
self as a giraffe because I am tall, I am skinny, my favorite colour is yellow
even though giraffes are brown, and everyone says they are yellow, because from
far away they look slightly yellow. Giraffes are also really fast and I love
running, and I also find Giraffes to be calm, like me.
The elements/ principles of
design that I have used are texture, pattern, proportion, contrast, variety,
line, colour, shape, space, and form.
Texture: the giraffe spots
looks bumpy but it also look smooth. Pattern: the spot create a pattern.
Proportion: the spots change size, so some of them are really big and some are
really small. Contrast: I would say that there is contrast because of the
bright colour and because of the way the colour changes. Variety: I think the
spots create variety. Line: there is multiple line because we had to trace it. Colour: there is multiple colours (yellow, orange,
yellow, brown, black. Shape: the spots are different and odd-looking shapes. Space: the giraffe is my positive space and
the background is my negative space. And Form, it looks a bit 3D.
The technical part of this
assignment took me some time to get use to, I found it hard to use the pen tool
at first but as I got used to it, it got a lot easier. I learned a lot of tools like the pen tool,
undo, etc. I used 6 layers and I didn’t really use any effects I just found the
yellow/orange/red colour when I was looking for a certain colour for my
giraffe.
I am really happy with my
logo and how it turned out, there isn’t anything I would change except the style
of the letters. I learned that designing a logo is not the easiest thing to do,
when I seen the demonstration I thought it would be a breeze but no it was
really hard. Next, I want to make random designs on illustrator, and im not too
sure what I want to learn next.

Van Gogh
Van Gogh
Imitationalism and literal
qualities
This painting is very authentic
because Van Gogh made this self-portrait in 1887. In my opinion Van Gogh
specialized in realism because almost all or all of his paintings were
realistic (made to look Real), for example Van Gogh made a composition called
“Crows over Cornfield” and it looks exactly like real crows flying over real
cornfields, just like Van Gogh’s Self-portrait with his straw hat looks just
like him which makes it very representational. I think this piece of art has
literal quality because the message in this painting could be saying or showing
that he is depressed, or lonely. This picture has precise design because it
captures every small detail like the colour in his hair or his eyes because Van
Gogh made it look like he really focused on the colour in his eyes and showed
the true features of his beard and the brush strokes adds that exact bit of detail
it needs. I would say it is very life like because it looks just like him. This
painting looks so real its almost as if he is sitting right in front of me.
Formalism and Design
This piece of art
successfully shows formalism and design. The elements I see that were included
here were Value, Texture, Line, Colour, Shape, Form, Unity, Balance, Contrast,
and Pattern.
The different colour of paint
in certain colours creates some value, the brush strokes make it look bumpy and
slightly rough, you can see the lines from the brush, which was on purpose
because that is Van Gogh’s style, there is multiple colours through out this
painting such as orang, yellow, black, green, brown, white, etc., there is
shape because his hat is a shape his eyes are circles etc., there is positive
and negative space, the positive space is Van Gogh and the negative is the
background, I would say there is form because this painting is 2D but it looks
like a 3D picture, I think it is balanced because the brush strokes complement
the colours, I think there is contrast because in some areas the colour really
stands out, I think the little lines create a pattern amongst this
painting.
Emotionalism and Expressive
Qualities
I think this piece would fail
in Emotionalism because you cant exactly get a feeling from this artwork, in my
opinion its just a plane Jane piece of art work (the phrase “Plane Jane” just
means its boring) who wants to say that about a piece or work? Certainly NOT
me!

line project
Line/Rhythm Project
(Dynamic) (Steady)
My steady and dynamic pictures work in different ways because in my steady picture i put thick lines, thin lines, proportion ,and its all diagonal, and its not crazy and all over the place, unlike my dynamic picture it has thick, thin and curved lines but i made the lines go in many directions, some are virticle, some are horrisontal, and some are diagonnally curved. My steady picture is simple and easy, My dynamic picture is difficult and crazy. When i made these pictures my thought process was different for each picture, for the steady picture i was like "this should be easy" for the dynamic picture, all i kept thinking was " how am i gonna do this" but then after playing around with some of the adobe illustrator tools, it became much simpler.
When you ask the question "Does it work?" i don't exactly understand what that means but if i were to take a guess of what that meant i would assume it means does it look like a steady picture and a dynamic picture, and i would have to say yes it looks like a steady and dynamic picture because like i said before my steady picture is calm and neat and also seems kinda boring, like it should. My dynamic picture looks crazy, out of control, and slightly messy, so if thats what that question means by "Does it work?" thats what i would have to say.
If i were to say which one of my picture works better i would say my dynamic picture works better because in my opinion its looks and is better then the steady one, it flows better, its crazier and stands out alot compared to the steady one.
I dont think both my pictures are pleasing to the eye/eyes because my steady picture is really boring and people aren't going to want to look at something dull, i think people would rather look at something amazing and out there like my dynamic picture. If i were to put my pictures side by side which one would people look at the most, my dynamic picture, because it stands out to the eye, it looks kinda cool and you can see it asmany different things, for example i see it as warped piano keys, i also see it as tiger strips or sound waves or claw holes from an animal, you all may see different things from what i see, but thats why i think it works better.
For the next question i dont know how to answer it because i dont understand it and what it is asking me so therefore i will skip it.
My pictures make me think of all sorts of things like why does it look the ways it looks or why did i draw this. it makes me think of certain objects like a piano or animals, my dynamic picture even makes me think of the movie "labrinth" because in the movie its a giant maze and my dynamic picture reminds me of a giant and impossible maze. My steady picture reminds me of a whake-a-mole game because the black thick lines make it look like the holes where the mole would pop out.
Well thats my Line/Rhythm

profile pic
I took this picture and made it as my profile picture because i didn't want to show my face and i found this idea cool when i thought of it. I like this picture because when i look at this picture i feel at peace, and i feel calm and happy and it looks like i am looking out upon something peaceful. I didn't change anything about this picture because at the time i didn't know how to use adobe illustrator and there was nothing that i wanted to change about it.
